Frequently Asked Questions
What do we need to bring?
A detailed “what to bring” list is provided in your booking confirmation email. In short, all activities require: sturdy shoes with a grippy sole, layers of light clothing (preferably synthetic or merino – not cotton), hat, sunscreen, personal medications. Canyon trips require that you wear swimwear under your clothing as you will change into wetsuits (provided) in the bush. Many bushwalks also offer seasonal opportunities for swimming. Cameras and phones at your own risk on canyon trips – a GoPro is good!
What is provided?
We provide morning tea/coffee and light snacks. For full day activities (6+ hrs) we provide a gourmet picnic lunch. We can loan water bottles, warm layers, raincoats. For walks we provide small backpacks for your personal gear (or bring a medium-sized one if you have a lot of gear). For canyons we provide a large waterproof backpack, wetsuits and all required safety gear.
Will the trip still proceed in bad weather?
Yes, in almost all cases. We assess the risk posed by the weather and trips usually proceed rain or shine. If we assess the conditions as posing a risk to safety we will cancel the trip and either rebook you to a mutually agreed date or provide a full refund (see our Cancellation Policy).
What if National Parks close the area chosen for the activity?
This happens occasionally, due to parks maintenance operations (often at short notice) or risks posed by weather or bushfire. We reserve the right to change the location of the activity in such instances, but may also cancel an activity (see our Cancellation Policy).
How hard is this walk or canyon trip?
Our walks are graded using the Bushwalking NSW system explained here. Generally, if you are of at least average fitness for your age group you will be fine with walks up to grade 3 (medium). Beyond this grade, and for all canyon trips (grading here), a significant level of effort may be required. But effort has its own rewards. Get in touch if you are unsure, we are happy to discuss this.
Do I need abseiling experience for abseil canyon trips?
No. Your experienced guide will provide an abseiling lesson and all the instruction you need to safely complete the activities. That said, if you request a more advanced canyon trip (one not listed on our website) we may require evidence of your prior experience.
