A signature Blue Mountains canyoning experience
Discover one of the most iconic canyon trips in the Blue Mountains. The Wollangambe 1 Canyon • Lilo Adventure is an immersive full-day journey that takes you deep into the heart of the Wollangambe River, surrounded by soaring sandstone walls, cool dark corridors and shimmering pools. It’s a trip that demands effort, but rewards you with unforgettable scenery and an incredible sense of achievement.
What to expect on the adventure
This is true canyoning – a mix of walking, scrambling, wading, swimming and paddling. After a short walk in, the canyon opens up to a series of winding waterways where your lilo becomes your best mate for long, peaceful floats through narrow, sculpted bends.
The water is cool year-round, so wetsuits and lilos are provided. You’ll spend extended periods in the water, drifting beneath towering canyon walls that close in above you as light filters down in dramatic beams.
Expect varied terrain, from boulder hops to gentle swims, and calm slow-moving sections where you can relax and take it all in.
The exit: a memorable final challenge
The final climb out of the canyon includes a 4-metre ascent using tree roots and a knotted rope. It sounds spicy, but you’ll be safely supported with a harness and a top rope for added security. Once above the canyon rim, a steady bushwalk leads you back to Mt Wilson where the adventure wraps up.
