Du Faur Canyon • Lilo Adventure
Grade: Medium | Distance: 8 km | Time: ~8 hrs | Max group size: 8 | Meeting point: Mt Wilson, 8.00 am | Season: November to April
A quieter, more intimate Blue Mountains canyon experience
For those seeking a scenic canyon that feels a little more tucked away from the crowds, the Du Faur Canyon • Lilo Adventure is the perfect choice. Situated upstream of Wollangambe 1, Du Faur Creek offers a more intimate, narrow passageway with beautifully sculpted walls and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it a favourite among experienced locals.
This trip follows the natural flow of the creek as it leads into the upper Wollangambe, giving you the chance to experience a diverse blend of canyon terrain and water features.
What makes Du Faur unique
Du Faur Creek is noticeably narrower and more enclosed than the Wollangambe canyons, creating a serene, sheltered environment. Light filters softly through the canyon, illuminating deep pools and smooth sandstone, while the cool water carries you gently between long, winding bends.
One of the standout features of this trip is its flexibility. There are multiple start and finish options, allowing the experience to be tailored to the group. Depending on the route chosen, you may spend 2 to 5 hours on the water, on top of the 3 hours of approach and exit walking to reach and leave the canyon.
What the day involves
