Geronimo Canyon

Grade: Medium–Hard | Distance: 10 km | Time: 9 hrs | Max group size: 8 | Meeting Point: Mt Wilson, 8.00 am

Available September to April

Geronimo Canyon is a full-day adventure designed for those ready to take on one of Mt Wilson’s more physically demanding and rewarding canyon experiences. This trip features a beautiful, sustained constriction, dramatic sandstone formations and two significant ascents that lead you deep into rugged canyon country.

The day begins with a bushwalk through classic Blue Mountains wilderness before descending into Geronimo’s sculpted passageways. Here, you’ll enjoy 4–5 exciting abseils, each offering new angles, textures and perspectives as the canyon walls twist and narrow around you.

Person white water canyoning in a narrow stream with tall, moss-covered rock walls, wearing a helmet, wetsuit, and harness, holding onto a rope across a cascading waterfall.

One of the unique highlights of this trip is the opportunity to explore a rarely visited upstream section of the Wollangambe Canyon—a secluded and pristine environment few people get to experience. With its peaceful pools, soaring walls and untouched atmosphere, this bonus section is often a favourite among returning canyoners.

This is a physically challenging day, and above-average fitness is required, particularly for the 500 m ascent over the course of the day. The climb is steep and sustained but incredibly rewarding, with sweeping views across the surrounding wilderness as you regain the plateau.

With a group sizes from 2 to 8, this guided adventure balances challenge, support and stunning scenery—perfect for canyoners looking to push themselves in one of Mt Wilson’s most impressive settings.
